Financial Education

Security First Bank has partnered with Banzai, a real-world financial literacy program, to bring free financial education to adults, teens and children. Banzai uses real-life examples to help teach the concept of budgeting, making money, expenses and even complex subjects like insurance and credit. Since 2018, Security First Bank has sponsored the Banzai program to be taught in local high schools in South Dakota and Nebraska, and now it’s available to our customers, at no cost!

What Are the Benefits of Banzai?

Banzai is an online financial literacy program that provides personal financial education courses, including pre- and post-quizzes, as well as a vast library of articles on topics ranging from taxes, home buying, insurance, and more.

The importance of financial education can not be overstated enough. Banzai courses benefit individuals who struggle with financial literacy and support their growth of applicable, lifelong skills.

The Banzai program has become the largest of its kind, providing more than 45,000 school teachers with classroom curriculum and online content that is available to anyone with Internet access.

Available Financial Literacy Courses:

  • Banzai Junior for 8-12-year-olds
  • Banzai Teen for Teenagers
  • Banzai Plus for Adults

Users are exposed to real-life scenarios where they learn to pay bills and balance a budget – but it’s not always easy. They must learn to manage unexpected expenses, interest charges, overdraft fees, and maintain a good credit score.

Library article readers are conveniently informed on how long they can expect to read each article. Most articles only take up to 10 minutes at most to read. Almost all articles contain links to additional information resources and financial planning tools. For example, the Buying a House section offers some of the best mortgage-related calculators and corresponding graphics found anywhere.
